Faris Bandak, Ph.D. is an expert in injury causation & mechanisms; currently a professor in the Dept of Neurology at F. Edward Hebert School of Medicine; has held the positions of National Expert in Injury Biomechanics and Director of Head Injury Research at the US Department of Transportation. He has over 80 publications including books and book chapters on the Biomechanics of Traumatic Brain Injury.
L.T. "Butch" Bradt, J.D. is an attorney from Houston, Texas. He is licensed in Texas and the Federal Courts. He was instrumental in exposing the corruption in the Houston Crime Lab.
Robert Cantu, M.D. is Chief of Neurosurgery Service, Chairman Department of Surgery and Director of Sports Medicine at Emerson Hospital in Concord, Massachusetts. He has authored over 300 scientific publications including 21 books on neurosurgery and sports medicine in addition to numerous book chapters, peer-reviewed papers, abstracts and so on. Dr. Cantu is also a Past-President of the American College of Sports Medicine and has appeared on NFL today with Bryant Gumbel and Terry Bradshaw.
Bernell Daniel-Weeks, J.D. is an attorney from Durham, North Carolina. She has successfully represented clients in numerous child-abuse cases.
Phillip Esplin, Ed.D. is a nationally recognized expert in reviewing and assessing children's statements. Dr. Esplin was a senior research consultant for the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development's Child Witness Research Project from 1989-2006. He has co-authored approximately 20 scientific articles and co-authored a Law Review article. Dr. Esplin has conducted numerous National and International training seminars on proper interview/investigative techniques in child molestation cases and has consulted and/or testified in a number of major sex abuse cases.
Steven Guertin, M.D. is an expert in the assessment of child sexual abuse and the recipient of the 1993 Service to Children Award by the Child Abuse Prevention Services for his work; He is currently Medical Director of Sparrow Regional Children's Center, Director of Pediatric ICU at Sparrow Hospital, Physician Director of the Child Safety Program at Sparrow Health System in Lansing, MI and Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.
Melvin Guyer, J.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Psychology in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Michigan. He received his MA, PhD, and JD degrees from the U of Michigan where he has studied mathematical psychology, decision theory and law. Professor Guyer has research interests in several areas of decision-making that include child custody decisions, expert assessments of child abuse allegations, and the nature and limitations of expert opinion formation and decision-making. His interest in law focuses on the role of expertise in judicial procedures. Professor Guyer teaches in the Department of Forensic Psychiatry Graduate Fellowship Program.
Greg Hampkian, Ph.D. is a nationally known DNA expert and professor of biology. He has held research and teaching positions at Yale University Medical School, Emory University, The CDC, Georgia Tech and the University of Connecticut. He presently teaches at Boise State University, consults on court cases throughout the U.S., and has been published in leading scientific journals.
Nancy Hollander, J.D. is an attorney from Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is a Past-President of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers Association and past-recipient of NACDL's most prestigious award, the Robert C. Heeney Memorial Award. Ms. Hollander has been extremely successful at the state and federal level. She is licensed in New Mexico along with numerous Federal Circuit Courts, the Southern Ute.Tribal Court and the U.S. Sup. Court. Ms. Hollander has shared her expertise by giving presentations at numerous CLE conferences.
Charles Hyman, M.D. is a Board Certified Pediatrician from Redlands, California. He was a clinical professor of pediatrics at Loma Linda University and a practicing physician for nearly 40 years.
Charles Jamieson, J.D. is an attorney from West Palm Beach, Florida. He has specialized in defending child abuse allegations since the mid-1980's and is considered a pioneer in the development of child abuse defense. Mr. Jamieson has won scores of acquittals at trial in over 20 states.
Robert LeBell, J.D. is an attorney from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He has been at the forefront in the legal field in dealing with propensity evidence, predator hearings, and the Adam Walsh Act. Mr. LeBell has successfully argued and won at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Kamala London, Ph.D. is an assistant professor at the University of Toledo. She received her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology in 2001 from the University of Wyoming. From 2003-2005 she was a research fellow at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine where she specialized in forensic developmental psychology. Dr. London has presented her research at dozens of national and international conferences as well as publications of that research. Dr. London's research examines factors that bolster and impede the reliability of children's reports of prior events.
Bruce Lyons, J.D. is a criminal defense lawyer from Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He is a Past-president of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, Past-Chairman of the Criminal Division of the American Bar Association and Past- Recipient of the NACDL's most prestigious award, the Robert C. Heeney Award. Mr. Lyons was one of the first lawyers to focus on the outbreak of child abuse prosecutions in the 1980's and has published articles on those issues. He has generously shared his expertise by giving presentations at numerous CLE conferences.
Elsie Martin-Simon, J.D. is an attorney from Houston, Texas. She has been extremely successful in Family Court cases dealing with child abuse allegations.
Debra Poole, Ph.D. Professor of psychology at Central Michigan University and the primary drafter of the forensic interviewing protocol for the State of Michigan. Her research deals with the social policy implications of basic research on cognitive development. Deb drafted the investigative interviewing protocol that is used in Michigan and has worked with Family Independence Agency and the Prosecuting Attorneys Association to train investigative interviewers. Her book on investigative interviewing with Michael Lamb was published by the American Psychological Association in 1998. Deb is internationally recognized as an expert in children's eyewitness testimony, false memories, and interviewing children. She is a fellow of the American Psychological Society, a designation given to individuals who have made "sustained outstanding contributions to the science of psychology," and she received a Governor's award from Family Independence Agency for her public service to the State of Michigan.
Richard Ofshe, Ph.D. is a researcher and professor at the University of California, Berkeley. He is internationally known for his work on coercion in police interrogation.
Douglas Peters, J.D. has served as President of the Georgia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (GACDL) and specializes in defending citizens accused in child abuse cases. Mr. Peter's numerous acquittals include Court TV cases of GA v. Dr. Eva Carrizales and GA v. Christopher Routh. Mr. Peters authored the Amicus Brief for the defense in GA v. Barlow which changed the law in Georgia to admit expert testimony regarding proper and improper techniques utilized in the interview of alleged child victims. Mr. Peters, a frequent lecturer, has also authored the book "The Defense of the Child Molestation Case in Georgia". In 2007, He was awarded the Rees Smith Lifetime Achievement Award by the GACDL, one of only 6 recipients over the last 30 years.
David Posey, M.D. is a nationally renowned pathologist from La Canada, California and part of the Glenoaks Pathology Medical Group. He has often been sought by media to give expert forensic consultation including Discovery Channel on their Unsolved Mysteries documentaries into the deaths of Marilyn Monroe, Princess Diana, the Boston Massacre and Salem Witch Trials.
Susan Elizabeth Reese, J.D. is an outstanding and successful lawyer from Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Harvard Law School. Her concentration is on sex crimes, homicides, drug cases and appeals. Ms. Reese is a Lifetime Member of the N.ational Association of Criminal Defense .Lawyers (NACDL) and the Oregon Criminal Defense Lawyers Association. She is also a columnist for The Oregonian Defense Attorney.
Piero Rinaldo, M.D., Ph.D. is a Professor of Laboratory Medicine, Mayo Clinic College of Medicine with more than 20 years of experience in the study of inborn errors of metabolism; has published extensively on the subjects of metabolic causes of sudden death and new- born screening. He was recently appointed by the Sec. of Health & Human Services (HHS) to the advisory committee on inheritable disorders in newborns and children.
Robert Rosenthal, J.D. is an attorney from New York, New York and has been one of the most successful appeals lawyers nationally in cases involving child abuse allegations.
Sherri Tenpenny, D.O. is respected as one of the country's most knowledgeable and outspoken experts regarding the impact of vaccines on health. She is highly sought after for her ability to present scientifically sound information regarding vaccination hazard and warnings that are rarely portrayed by conventional medicine. Besides lecturing at Case Western Reserve Medical School, she has appeared on numerous radio and television talk shows. She is the author of a best-selling book and has a soon-to-be released book, "Exceptions to the Rules: How to Exercise Your Right to Refuse Vaccines".
Lorin Zaner, J.D. is a criminal defense lawyer, licensed in both Ohio and Michigan who received an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, which has aided him in his specialty of defending criminal and domestic cases involving alleged sexual assault and false allegations of child abuse.
